Today I’m launching something new: an Amblecote Ward Case Tracker — a page on this site where you can see, in real time, the issues residents have reported to me and where things currently stand.
What it is
It’s a simple, public page that lists the issues reported to me directly by residents — potholes, drainage, flytipping, streetlighting, and everything in between — along with a clear status for each one:
- 🔵 Open — newly logged, not yet actioned
- 🟠 Monitoring — formally logged and being chased
- 🟢 Resolved — completed
Each case shows the reference number you were given when you reported it, the street or area it relates to, and a short timeline of updates as things progress.
What it does
- Search and filter — find a case by its reference number or street name, or filter the whole list down to just “Open,” “Monitoring,” or “Resolved”
- An at-a-glance overview — a simple chart shows the overall split between open, monitoring, and resolved cases, so you can see the bigger picture in seconds
- A timeline for each case — click into any case to see the dated notes as it moves through the system, rather than just a single status with no context

Why I’ve done this
Since being elected, I’ve always tried to keep residents updated through my Facebook page and posts. The trouble is, social media can drown itself out — a post about a pothole or a blocked drain from a few weeks back quickly gets buried under everything else, and trying to scroll back to find out what happened with a specific issue isn’t easy for anyone.
That’s why I wanted a central place where it’s much easier to search for an issue and see exactly where it stands — whether it’s just been logged, has had an update, or has been completed. It beats trying to dig back through old social media posts.
I’ll still post about cases, updates, and general ward news on Facebook as much as ever. But this tracker will be the one focused place that’s always kept as close to live, up-to-date information as possible.
Whether it’s a case raised weeks, months, or even years ago, I’ll keep pushing — raising it, formally logging it with the right team, and chasing until there’s a response and the work gets done. The tracker just makes that process visible, rather than something that happens behind closed doors.
A few honest caveats
- This shows a summary of some — but not all — of the cases I’m handling. Some issues are sensitive, still very early stage, or simply not suitable to list publicly.
- No resident names are ever shown. Cases are described by location and issue only.
- This is an early version of the tool, built and run independently by me — it isn’t an official Dudley MBC system, and it doesn’t replace reporting things to the council directly where that’s the right route (emergencies, safety hazards, etc. — see below).
- If anything looks wrong, missing, or you’d like a case added, just let me know — this will keep improving.
How to report an issue
If you’ve got something you’d like me to raise, please contact me directly rather than posting in local Facebook groups or tagging this page. Reporting privately first means your issue gets a proper date and time stamp on file straight away, which protects both of us if there’s ever a question about when something was first raised.
- 📧 Email (preferred): [email protected]
- 💬 Facebook: message this page directly
⚠️ For dangerous structures, flooding, or any immediate safety hazard, please contact Dudley Council directly on 0300 555 2345 or visit dudley.gov.uk — don’t wait for a reply from me first.
This page and tool are produced independently by Cllr Wayne Lewis as your ward councillor for Amblecote, and are not an official Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council service.
